Stefan, I think David Lean and Anne V. Coates both cut the film. About twenty, maybe twenty-five years ago, I saw Anne Coates on TV talking about this. She said that due to the vast amount of material to be edited in time for the premier, she and David Lean worked flat out, seven days a week and she was in an upstairs studio with DL in a downstairs studio. Hi Robin9! Yes, Anne V. Coates edited Lawrence, and all due respect to her for her excellent work. When writing "Lean´s editing" I merely wanted to point out Lean´s deep personal involvement in editing decisions.
