I am in the process of completing the construction of my home theater the dimensions are 20'x 13' with a 8' ceiling. I want to get decent speakers but don't want to overdo it. Any suggestions on where i should start would be greatly appreciated.

I have not listened to anything yet. I was planning to spen around 2k, I am looking for a 7.1 surround system. I heard the JBL studio series is pretty good. Unfortunately I am not familiar with many of the brands.

I'd recommend you set aside some time and drop by your local B&W and Paradigm dealers. If you have one, Mordaunt Short would be another to give a listen to. It will be a good idea so you can form an opinion about what you like and don't like and armed with that info, you can make an decision you will be happy with.

Yes, I agree the new Studio L series looks very nice; the new NHT Classic series w/ the aluminum dome mids are quite sexy too.
