Kino Lorber has released The Ida Lupino Filmmaker Collection on Blu Ray.  The set contains four of Lupino’s six features directed between 1949 and 1953.  I have to say to me, these films were something of a revelation.  Three of the films are very good ‘social problem’ films while the sets true gem The Hitch-Hiker is a noir masterpiece.  Three have been restored and look very good, with some minor variation.  The fourth film The Bigamist doesn’t state that it’s been restored, but it looks like a newer scan done by elements holder Paramount.

Nice review. Richard Boone recognized her ability and she directed eight episodes of Have Gun - Will Travel. In fact, she directed episodes of several classic TV shows, including 77 Sunset Strip, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Untouchables, Thriller, The Fugitive, and The Twilight Zone. She even directed three episodes of Gilligan's Island!

Boone thought very highly of her directing abilities, saying something to the effect that Lupino could rouse an actor out of walking through a part during a long-running series.

The Trouble with Angels may not have done anything for Lupino's directing career, but my mentor/driend Dewayne loves it!

Ida Lupino is the only woman to have directed a Twilight Zone episode and the only person to star in one episode and direct another.

Two good ones too- The Sixteen-Millimeter Shrine and The Masks.
And "The Sixteen-Millimeter Shrine" was directed by Mitchell Leisen ("Hold Back the Dawn"), with a music score by Franz Waxman (Academy Award® for "Sunset Blvd."), co-starred Martin Balsam ("Psycho"), Ted de Corsia ("The Naked City") and Jerome Cowan ("The Maltese Falcon") and written by Rod Serling (six Emmy® Awards, three for The Twilight Zone.)
