DLP2? I wouldn't trade THX processing for DPL2. I group it together with "Hall and Jazz" style dsp modes. And some people actually listen to 2 channel music with this dsp. Makes me wonder if they ever heard a good 2-channel set-up.
Seven channels of amp power may be a reason for someone to consider the 3802.
If I were starting over and shopping in the sub $1000.00 receiver arena, I would put the 4800 vs the 3802 on my short list. Also great deals being had on the Pioneer Elite VSX-37 TX, which I believe to be another standout receiver for under $1M.
Where are you guys finding the 4800 for so cheap? I haven't seen it for under $1100. I payed about $700 shipped for my 3802 last summer, about $500 less than the 4800 at the time....
Yea, the Carver with 1000 watts looked interesting while they lasted. That is a tough decision. I had to crawl through my attic and drill holes and pull wires to upgrade from 5.1 to 7.1. All DVD's can be played in 5.1. So It is just a gamble on how big the 6.1/es discrete is going to be.
I bought the 3802 and after 6 whole hours, I am happy so far. The 7/5 channel stereo is nice for those of us who want to use all the speakers all the time for TV and cd.
Does the 4800 do 6.1es discrete?????? That is what you must decide!
