One can dream can't she? lol.

I went to see Bourne Supremacy with my husband and father and this group of teens sat near the door on the floor chatting the whole time. I got up and asked if they could go out in the lobby and talk and fortunately they did. They even apologized for being loud.

While I am glad they were respectful of the other patrons and left, I wonder why on earth they even bothered coming to the film at all. This amazes me when people come into a theater and chat during films.

Another time I had taken my children to this place where you could eat dinner while watching a movie. This group of woman were there with what I believe was a birthday party (around 25 children) and they reserved the special party area for their group. The kids sat at this sort of counter area and watched the film while the nothers all sat in back at a round table and talked the whole movie. I went out twice to complain and the woman continued to talk. When the movie was over I told the manager that he lost our business because he didn't do anything to make the situation better for us ( either making the ladies shut up or making them leave). What I should have done was walked out and got my money back.

Loo = bathroom

So true. That's something I will never understand. What's the point of going to the theater if you're going to talk with your friends during the film? I mean, how about doing that in a mall, for instance? And it will cost you absolutely nothing! I dunno, I guess they know something we don't.

I'm amused by the responses to my comments. I made a typo, so one thing I said was misinterpreted- I wouldn't ask just anyone what I missed if I left to use the washroom...I would just ask the person I went with. Try to be understanding, people...when you buy a soda at the movie theatre, it's hard to sit through the whole movie without having to leave to pee.

But I do agree that too much talking or talking loudly is bad. Even a friend I go with has shushed me for asking him too many questions. I try to not to talk too much, but I think a quiet "what did I miss?" and a quiet short reply shouldn't be held against people, when one of them went to the washroom.

I don't know what size of soda you prefer, but I've never once had to use the restroom in a theater, and I always buy a soda before going in to avoid getting thirsty in the middle of the film. And that includes over a dozen trips to see LOTR ;)

as long as people shut up when the film starts, i dont really care. People talking on mobiles really pisses me off though.

It's no wonder that I don't go to the movie theater anymore.
Either some jerk is disrupting the movie for me, or there's some jerk who is angry that I've got up go to the bathroom.

we pay enough for cinema tickets these days, so i don't get why they can't have some security guy in the cinema, ready to escort annoying people out of there. The trouble is it's left to other cinemas goers to tell these people to STFU, it shouldn't be our problem.

[supafly]Yo, give that mother* a punch in the throat. Ain't nobody gotta shut the hell up until the giant CG "talking" flys at the screen and the cartoon "x" slams on top of it.[/supafly] Same with smoking... go ahead and puff away until the no-smoking sign appears on-screen (not valid in NY where you can only smoke at home)

Well my response may be a bit harsh, but I dont like people chatting LOUDLY during a presentation. I don't mind the occasionaly whisper "like wow!" and such like that. So if you took teh wrong way im sorry, but I do like to make small comments during the film to my friends, and i do them well below a whisper.

So if you have ears taht can hear that, I'm sorry.

Oh yeah, on the "Pee pet peeve". I have a small bladder, I try to sit away from people, but its a fact of the cinema you have to get use to.

I actually enjoy going to www.alamodrafthouse.com cinema theatres, where i can get a pizza, a jug of Sangria, and enjoy my film. Good thing is, no one under 21 allowed, unless accompied by adult...the theatre makes its money of adults buying alcohol and "Bar".

Best movie going experience ever, except for the occasional dropped beer bottle.

Yeah, some people just don't think or care. I mean if you have a weak bladder, sit at the freaking end of the row or in those 4 seat rows on the left or right side, don't sit in the middle! I NEVER have to use the restroom during movies. I have a routine, about 15 minutes before the movie starts, I go to the restroom and then get popcorn and soda. I don't know why more people don't do that. And as far as talking goes, I hate those people! I mean go ahead and talk before the previews even a little talking during the previews doesn't bother me but shut your mouth once the film starts!
I don't mind a whisper hear or there if it is clarifying something about the movie, it's the constant whispering throughout the entire film that gets on my nerves. Once again just shut up.

I also will not drink anything at or before arriving at the theater..

Having a drink while watching a movie.. I dunno, I just don't get it..

Squirming with a full bladder waiting for a pivotal scene to end so I can trip over 3-4 sets of feet and go to the washroom, then trip over the same feet heading back, IF I can find where I was sitting before..

Doesn't seem worth it to me..

This is kind of funny. When I went to see Monsters Inc. with my good friend and his girlfriend....we were the only 3 people in the theater and we still didn't talk during the film or if we did we kept it to a wisper.

I don't go to the theater very often, and the last time I went was a reminder of why. I went to see the Incredibles with 3 of my friends and got treated to a bonus screen specific audio commentary from a child 2 rows behind us. I've listened to a lot of commentaries in my day but this one wasn't informative or entertaining, unless you like hearing the words wow and cool over and over again. The person he was with probably his dad did make an effort to quiet the kid but it took him about half of the movie. Its a good thing that I had already seen the film once, and even though the kid wasn't really that loud...I have way above average hearing and so I could hear every word. My friend and I were wishing bad things to happen to the kid by the end of the film, but for some reason our other 2 friends heard nothing.

You know they say that the true character of a man is shown by whether he talks even when alone in the movie theater.

I always try to totally humiliate a talker in the theater If they are bothering me. My best one was when myself and eight of my friends went to see Village of the Damned. There was a kid who was probably on his first date with a girl sitting directly in front of me. He was making jokes, trying to be funny. At a quiet part of the movie I leaned over right to his ear and at full volume asked him if he would mind shutting the hell up. One of my friends then gave him a Nelson "Haw- Haw" and the entire theater started laughing. They shrank so far down in their seats and the girl punched him. It was great.

I went to see The Butterfly Effect on Sunday (it opened late here and my cousin wanted to see it.) Brand new mall, kickass multiplex (oh you should see the lobby...), luxury stadium seating, the works. The house was only half full, so I was feeling pretty giddy. Got to see the Episode III teaser on the big screen, which kicked all sorts of ass :D So far, a very nice evening at the movies...

During the last preview, however, the woman behind me did not take, but rather MADE a cell phone call. "Hey what's up?... Doing nothing, just here at the movies... Nah it hasn't started yet... Oh wait it's starting" (she kept on talking over the opening sequence, at which point I said "and now you can shut up." She kept right on talking, until so many people shushed her that she ended the call.

Thankfully, her chatter didn't extend beyond the opening credits, but what gives???? I couldn't believe she was actually waiting to make the call until the dang movie was about to start!

And thus, I lose a little more faith in the human race.
