Well, I was wasn't actually on there in person. It was the call-in part of the local news at noon. The topic was "widescreen vs. fullscreen - which do you prefer". Naturally I couldn't resist calling in. I managed to record it and compress it into an MP3 file for your listening pleasure. I'm the second caller (Jeremy from Goderich).
You'll no doubt shake your head at some of the stupid, idiotic things that some people say - they don't have a clue what they're talking about.
At least the anchor is pro-widescreen so it was a good piece. Since you can only hear it, let me clarify some things. The segment begins with the cameraman bending the picture a bit to resemble a widescreen aspect ratio, then back to normal. Bevin is on location in a shopping area interviewing people and places duct tape over portions of the camera lens to simulate a widescreen effect.
It's a 10 minute clip (3.5 meg) and I come in at 2:38. Enjoy! You'll have a good laugh at some of the comments. [IMG]
Right-click to save MP3 - thanks for the temporary use of your space, Thomas!

"What distorts the image is going fullscreen..." - wow, a talking head that actually contains a brain! Maybe there are a few intelligent TV news anchors out there.

I liked the interview. It was entertaining. I may have to call them "tallscreen" demoes at work.

You know, aside from the content, the widescreen supporters just sound more intelligent and articulate. . . [IMG]

I can understand the caller complaining about "The Crocodile Hunter". Having a movie display a 1.33:1 window on a 2.35:1 screen can become annoying even in the movie theater.

Thanks guys, and THANKS THOMAS for helping me out. [IMG] I actually have the file on some very limited space at my workplace so it'll need to go.
    Glad everyone's enjoying it.

I only listened to two of the other callers (the one before yours and the one after). Yours was the best.

I'm surprised there was even a segment done on widescreen -vs- P&S! God bless that station for at least trying to educate the public.
Perhaps there is hope for us OAR snobs. [IMG]
