I already have the subwoofer covered, as well as the receiver.

I want to do a 5.1 setup that does VERY well for HT but must do EXTREMELY well for 2 ch. Music.

I am willing to spend up to $1600 Canadian. Thanks!

Do you only need the speakers or do also need source components like CD players etc as well from that $1600?

Next question: :)

Can you plunk 1600 on a stereo pair (or front 3) and add other speakers later or is it a one shot dealie?

Based on your need for 5 speakers under $1600, I don't think that you will find anything that will do EXTREMELY well for 2 channel IMO.

Since you are or near Canada, your best bet is probably a Canadian brand like Paradigm, Energy, PSB, Mirage...

If you can find them (V.3 are now out), I think that two sets of Paradigm Reference Studio/20 V.2 plus the matching centre, Studio/CC are worth considering....should be close to your budget. The PSB Image series should be auditioned too.
