Scott was an incredibly sultry actress and I can't think of a film she was in that didn't interest me. Aside from her, nice cast on this one, and I'll be ordering it. Byron Haskin? Hmm. It's hard to think of that name without a science-fiction or fantasy film attached to it. Is this part of Kino's new deal with Universal?

This film has been a favorite of mine since I was about 12 years old. In many cases, when you first view a film as a kid, you have more appreciation for it than somebody that first views the same film as an adult. It's not always the case, but it happens a lot. As an adult, I see some flaws in this film, but I still love it and appreciate it for what it was as it was to me as it helped shape my love for classic films. This was just the fourth film made by both, Lancaster and Douglas. You can see the star potential that both had in this film. By the way, Dink was a major "a$$hole"! That said, Douglas was great in that role. Lancaster is one of my top ten favorite actors of all-time. Liz Scott, sultry actress with a wonderful sexy voice that should have had a bigger career.

Is this part of Kino's new deal with Universal?

This is actually part of their deal with Paramount to release titles which have never been out on DVD or Blu-ray before.

I can see why, it's really a very entertaining film. I feel like this is one of those reviews where it's probably best to ignore the numerical grade and to just take the plunge - the film is good enough, it has an interesting spin on a familiar story, and what a cast! Those 97 minutes just flew by.

The only title they've officially announced from the Universal deal is CHARLEY VARRICK, but they did confirm DESERT FURY as being in the pipeline .

Great picture! The definition of drop dead gorgeous 70 years later. All three of them.
