I couldn't resist this unit, Denon had a factory warehouse sale , lots of refurb stuff, from the problematic dvd-900 to a 5805.

I was lucky enough to grab the 3800 for $130+tax(Canadian). I was looking at it just for the CD playback, but found out this was one of the best units on the market a few years ago.

It came with a 90 day warranty, should I ask about the laser upgrade?? Do you think they'll do the firmware upgrade for free??

What do YOU think of the deal??

Anybody know if this unit does bass managment for DVD-audio??

All I know is that the 3800 is built like a tank.

    Thanks

That's a great price for it even if you only ever use it as a CD player

Thanks Andrew, I figured it was getting long in the tooth for a DVD player. Everything nowadays has HDMI ir DVI, and tends to upconvert over HDMI. But for $130 I couldn't pass it up.
