Basically I am looking to buy equipment that does the following :-

Multi-Region DVD Player/Recorder (DVD-R/DVD-RW)
Audio Equipment that has the following specifications :-

CD/CD-R/CD-RW/DVD-A/Super Audio/MP3/Mini Disc Player/Recorder

I had been considering the Denon DVD 2-900 model, but have learnt that it cannot record on DVD.
Is there a universal player that has the above specifications (I accept that the Mini Disc feature may have to be separate), and is of a good quality.
My budget is around £700 to £800 pounds (about $1200 dollars).
I would appreciate any help or advice from forum members.
Thanks.

James,

AFAIK there are no recorders that also do DVD-A and SACD - and if you want both hi-rez formats AND recording, it looks like there's at least 2 pieces of equipment in your future ;)

James,

There is a name for what you are asking for, and it is called, "Pie in the Sky." Kind of like solving world hunger, it's just not going to happen anytime soon at a reasonable price. We're probably a few years off from starting to see something with all those capabilities.

I think the closest units are the one's Sony makes, which record and play all those formats, except DVD-A. Also, they cost a good deal more than 800 pounds.

You can still meet your budget if you're willing to get two separate components...

Pioneer has been a front-runner with lower-priced universal players, but I don't think multi-region or minidisc are included...
DV-45A at about US$5-600 http://makeashorterlink.com/?T12D520B5
DV-563A at about US$200 http://makeashorterlink.com/?I13D310B5

Panasonic makes several DVD recorders (DVD-R format): http://makeashorterlink.com/?I2FC230B5

And Philips makes a few (DVD+R format): http://makeashorterlink.com/?A2EC540B5
