I need an older version of Window Media Encoder for w98

    The newer version 9 will not work on W98 and I have looked and looked but I cannot find a place that lets me down load version 7.1. When I do find a place and click to download it always takes me to a page that does not exists.

    Can someone help me or e-mail me the setup file!

    I use Media Player Classic (MPC)with Quicktime Alternative and Realplayer Alternative so I can have nice clean versions of both those players too.

    I am looking for Windows Media "Encoder" not "Player".

    I am trying to record my son playing his KeyBoard through the Line In from his head phone out jack. My other son has XP on his PC and we use WMEncoder 9 to record him on his electric guitar.

    So I was hoping to run WME 7.1 on the W98 PC to record.

    I really should buy a good recording program that will also save it as a WAV to record right to a CD. Any one know the best way/program to do this with.

    Windows media encoder comes with the media players, has since windows media player 7, so you'll still need to grab the player.

    dbpoweramp was always one of my favorite encoding apps, looks like they have support for windows 98:
