Hello,
I have a Yamaha RX-V863 Receiver and a Yamaha YST-FSW050BL subwoofer. I was looking at this speaker set and would like to know for what I have will these speakers be a good match? I'm looking at the Onkyo SKS-HT540 7.1.
Here is the best price for it
http://www.pcrichard.com/catalog/product.jsp?modelNo=SKSHT540
but I have never purchased from this place.
Amazon has it but it's almost $75 more.
http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-SKS-HT540-Channel-Theater-Speaker/dp/B000GU78Z4
I have to stay around $300 which I know is not a lot.
Thank you for any help.

I'm not familiar with those speakers so I can't comment on how they'll sound, but they will work fine with the Yamaha.
Standard adder - don't buy expensive wires, Monoprice is a good place to go. If you making the usual run of

Onkyo makes good stuff, so I'd guess they are ok for the money.. They are probably the same speakers that comes in one of there HTIB (home theater in a box) systems. I'd check at Onkyo's site, for factory authorized sellers. If they're not on Onkyo's list, I'd go with Amazon. I'm pretty sure Amazon is on the list. Sellers that are not factory authorized means you'll get no warranty from Onkyo.

Those are similar to what came with the HT-800 receiver/speaker package. Not bad for what they are. Ac4l.com used to sell the speaker set as a refurb for $149 + sh.
There's not much else out ther for $200 that has 7 speakers and a 230 watt sub. Even these from Jamo are 5.0 for the same price.

Jerry,

The reason I asked is because you typically should spend more on the speakers, less on the receiver. If it was new I would advise returning it and getting something cheaper.

Good luck with your setup.

David,
Thank you for your advice. I had a set of speakers before that were good so that is why I didn't buy new speakers when I got the reciever.
Is this set of speakers http://www.jr.com/onkyo/pe/ONK_SKSHT870/
better then the ones I posted before?
http://www.pcrichard.com/catalog/product.jsp?modelNo=SKSHT540
I will purchase either one of these two sets.
Thank you for all your help

I would think the first link, to J&R, would be the better speakers. The sub is probably a little better too.
J&R is probably a factory authorized seller.
Ok, I just ran a check at Onkyo's site for authorized sellers online: http://www.us.onkyo.com/locations_intdealer.cfm
Both J&R and PC Richard are factory authorized. I'd still go with the speakers at J&R. They are better speakers.........
Good luck!
