My apologies to the moderators in advance for starting a thread about an older show, but I am just having a difficult time without my weekly "Friends" fix...

I don't want to bring "too much" of "Joey" into this thread...but where is his barca-lounger (or another barca-lounger)???

I miss the weekly exploits of the "Friends" gang...

I've liked what I've seen of Joey so far which is to say every episode, and yet...

...I know what you mean about missing Friends. It just seems so odd watching Joey, I keep thinking things like

and this is where Chandler would make a sarcastic remark...or here's when Ross might say something...or I expect Rachel to walk in to the room pretty soon...

Its still taking some getting used to Joey without his Friends, and I'm glad for the DVD releases, but not watching a new episode on a thursday night is still strange.

I like "Joey" but I know what you mean. I particularly miss Monica and Chandler. I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop and it's great to be able to go back and watch the first couple of seasons and look for signs that it was meant to be.

As far as the Barcaloungers, they were both destroyed. All that was left was Rachel's Lazy Boy. (The episode where Monica got the Porsche).

Isn't there another episode of Friends due to be broadcast around Thanksgiving this year, showing what happened to all the characters one year on, or am I imagining this?

Don't worry... I'm sure that the each of the characters will all have the opportunity to surface on Joey during sweeps. And let's not forget the inevitable Credit Card commercials they're all bound to star in in several years when they realize that their carrers have jumped the shark.

And in 10 years we'll get the re-union episode...

And in 15 years we'll get the Friends spin-off that deals with the children of all the Friends in high-school/college...

C'mon... have the last 20 years of network television taught us NOTHING?

;)

Moe.

I don't miss "Friends". It was time for that show to go off the air, because they chose to develop the characters to a point where the show just didn't work anymore.

That said, I'm glad to see "Joey"! I like him and I think they could create situtation comedy WIHOUT too much character development. Character development in sitcoms has usually not been a good thing, IMO.

They're all frigging multi-millionares. I wish people would stop saying they are going to take shitty jobs because they have to.

Well, not because they need the money, but because they need to remind people they exist if they want higher-profile jobs than the direct-to-video sequels to real stars' movies they may be doing by then.

Exactly what I was going to say. Let's face it, none of them are great actors who have carried great movies (or a great TV show for the past 4 or 5 seasons). Of the bunch, I'd say Jennifer Aniston is the best actor/actress, but even that's not saying much. She'll always be know as Rachel and for being married to Brad Pitt. Not for a movie career of any notoriety.

I have to disagree, at least where the ladies are concerned. If they make smart choices, they have the ability to do good work in good films. I think Jennifer Aniston was very good in The Good Girl and Office Space, Lisa Kudrow has shown a lot of range and has appeared in some good "small" films like Clockwatchers and Wonderland, and Courtney Cox-Arquette also has a lot of potential (I thought she was great in the Scream movies).

As far as the guys, you are probably right. Other than Joey, Matt LeBlanc hasn't had much success, and David Schwimmer will always be Ross-like as long as he is in comedies (though he was pretty good in Band of Brothers. He has pretty much said he was giving up acting to pursue directing. However Matthew Perry could have a long acting career ahead as long he starts taking diffent kinds of parts. he should do more dramatic work, like his part on The West Wing.
