I just recently watched a horror movie called “Hereditary” and it honestly scared the heck out of me. It’s made by a foreign group called A24 which is gaining so much popularity lately due to all the movies they produced in the past few years. I swear guys, this movie and group are so underrated. I can honestly say that the movie Hereditary is a masterpiece. It messes you up psychologically and emotionally. At first you’ll keep trying to analyze its plot but trust me, you won’t get anything right until the near end. I highly recommend this movie and also, do your best not to watch this piece alone at night.

If scary movies scare you, then don't watch them. I never watch scary movies around the time that I go to sleep. The thing you need to remember is to watch movies of different genres. If you're scared of a horror film, offset that by watching a live concert or a comedy or science fiction movies. Eventually, you won't be afraid of that horror movie anymore.

No offense but this thread sounds like spam.

Agreed. The OP suggests a level of familiarity with this forums members yet this is they're first post. I hope I'm wrong because if not, what happened to human decency. I'm also assuming the movie sucks.

"Hereditary" got really good reviews - 89% on RT - so apparently it's good.

I agree the opening post smells questionable, though...

Well you would assume incorrectly. ;)

I just watched the film and thought it was terrific. How about that? I was expecting to hate it.

Good for you but that's your opinion and opinions do tend to differ from one person to another, so no one's "incorrect."

My comment really had nothing to do with the actual film. I can't rate what I haven't experienced.

Exactly my point. You made an assumption without seeing the film.

I actually saw the film and offered my opinion.

No need to get snarky.

Well, this has gotten prickly. Of course, the OP hasn't returned. I agree the first post seem very suspicious. Hereditary has actually gotten good reviews, and I've seen several A24 movies. 16 by my count, and several were quite good, though I noticed I haven't seen any of theirs from the last two years.

I wager 34 quatloo's that the op will never return.

Never really had any intention of seeing the film, so I read the plot summary on wikipedia, and it made absolutely no sense at all.

I had much the same reaction to reading the synopsis on IMDB. Take this paragraph for example:

{after jumping out the window} Peter's head hits the ground below, which seemingly kills him. Peter reanimates after the oddly glowing light seen previously enters his body. Peter follows his mother's headless corpse as it floats into the tree house.

Taken out of context

The scene works very well within the film and is quite effective and creepy.

You’re a horror movie fan Malcolm. Why not give it a shot? Like I said I was expecting to hate it and surprisingly my reaction was quite the contrary.

It made perfect sense to me after seeing it. Don’t be so dismissive without seeing it. You actually may like it.

Possibly if it makes its way to Netflix. I've read other articles that made comparisons to It Follows and The Babadook, both films I HATED, so I don't envision spending any money to see this.

I liked It Follows but hated The Babadook.

So there you go. :P

Apologies and sorry it came across that way. Not at all my intent. I did make an assumption without seeing the film but it was based solely on the OP's behavior and also qualified as an "assumption." In artistic matters an assumption simply cannot be incorrect as it was never represented as fact.
