Worst move I ever made was getting a receiver.

I'm gonna stick to CD/LP to an amplifier. Yes, less is indeed more.

Well let me restate that - I have a music system (amp,cd, speakers) for music and I have a HT system (receiver, DVD, speakers) for home theater. same media room. Interesting to see two sets of mains but thats how it is.

Don't tell us you've finally overprocessed!
Did you add one too many processors to your system, and when you played T-2 the overprocessed soundtrack played in pig latin?

Was this the one a few months ago where you (if it was you! [IMG]) asked everyone for ideas for more processors you could get? If so, WOW, what a fast and complete about face!
Actually processors are good if they serve a beneficial purpose. For instance, I have three 1/3 octave EQs in my system, including one dedicated to the center channel. It’s “required” to be in the top compartment of an entertainment center, and EQing it made a drastic improvement.
I think someone on that thread mentioned outboard DA converters. I expect these are beneficial if you have a high-end system.
If you listen to any LPs or cassette tapes, a dynamic range expander is of tremendous benefit. It reduces the noise floor of these less-than-optimal sources.
The bass enhancer in my AudioControl electronic crossover does wonders for bass-challenged TV shows and an occasional rock CD with the same problem.
Of course, any processor must be used sensibly. Anyone with a “turn it all the way up” bent should stick to the basics!
    Happy Holidays,
    Wayne A. Pflughaupt

Hmmm...there's a decent 2bedroom 1 1/2 bath in the town I live in for $265 a month. I have thought about moving away from here a few times...Now I'm not so sure! [IMG]
As for the topic, Like Wayne said some processing is good. You just need to know when and where. Me? I'm too poor to process.
