I'm sorry, but I'm just a little giddy. Passed my last Microsoft Exam today to earn my MCSD (Microsoft Certified Solution Developer) certification. For non-MS-techie types, this is a programming certification, which means that Microsoft is convinced that you can successfully develop application solutions using the Microsoft Solutions Framework.
This basically took a year, four exams ($125 a pop, pass or fail), over $500 in prep software and textbooks, but MAN! I finally made it!!
Which means... I have to gear up for the next round of Microsoft certification exams with the new .Net platform. *sigh* It never ends...
But for now, it's Miller time... no... it's Millheiser time! Moohahahhahahahaaaa!!!
Sorry, I'm just a little too goofy right now.

Congratulations! I’d say that $1,000 expenditure was a bargin.

I can still remember that feeling of accomplishmet (read: relief) when I got that nifty sheet back and my little grey bar was longer than Microsoft's little darker grey bar [IMG]
    Now..go and celebrate!!

Thanks for the responses guys! Yeah, there's an incredible amount of relief going through my mind... plus the upcoming certification bonus from my company doesn't hurt either. [IMG] I just remember how a year ago, it seemed so far away that it almost felt unattainable.

Congrats. I've never really bothered getting any kind of certification in the 10 years I've been programming. I never bothered with college either, so maybe it's a pattern for me. [IMG]
Is there really any benefit to being 'certified' by Microsoft? I figure, you can either program or you can't and an employer never really knows until they hire you.
Does this really make employers more likely to hire you? I always thought that these certifications were just a way to make it past the clueless HR managers at alot of larger companies. When they see 'CERTIFIED', do you make it to the short list automatically?

The COM stuff wouldn't bother me, I'm sure I'd do fine on that portion. However, I know next to nothing about SourceSafe (we use ClearCase).

I'm surprised that Microsoft is still pushing COM. Even though the entire Windows OS is based completely around COM, they seem to be trying to push it out the door with .NET
