Well sorta... Does anyone remember the Alesis Masterdisk?
I want a TIVO type device with a build in dvd-rw or dvd+rw drive for off loading files from the unit's harddrive.
The Masterdisk did just this plus allowing recording at higher sampling rates and recording them as WAV files to the CD-R. Very cool.
We need a DVD-R/Tivo equivalent.

That would be great. I would love to see something like that.
I have toyed around with the idea of building a PC with ATI's AIW Radeon card and one of the new Pioneer DVD-R drives that are now available. The software for program selection isn't as powerful as TiVo, but the yet to be released AIW Radeon8500DV looks good. Maybe once the cost of DVD-R media, and the drive itself, drops, I may actually build such a beast.
