having recently listened to some not yet released Bose 901's, they are, without question, the most accurate and faithful speakers I've ever heard, without question. To say that I was surprised, even astounded, is an understatement. Without question, they make Dunlavy's, Mezzo Utopias, name your electrostatic or planar, sound as if they came from some Toys-R-Us children's sound system.

The placement of instruments was superb and comments such as were made by Consumer Reports that a violin sounded overly wide, are rendered ancient history. One can literally close their eyes and not just hear violins, but the individual playing the violin in pin point precise location. It is as if you now have the best seat in the Carnegie Hall but without having to climb over everyone to get it. Distortion, as near as I could tell, doesn't exist and cabinet vibrations tax the ability of measuring instruments to record it. A spectacularly flat frequency response, coupled with equalization that is now adaptive to the room allowing for dynamic cancellation of reverberations will greatly simplify speaker location in virtually anyone's living room.

It is not everday that I can unequivocably say I have heard the goal in sound reproduction. Today is that day.

No BOSE bashing for me today

At what price-point will the 901s be priced? I wonder how 5 of 'em would sound in a theater setup?

    Nice try, Chu...

I did however believe for about 5 minutes this morning that Infinity took Howard Stern off the air until I remembered it was 4/1.

Unique looking pair - does require an Equalizer so the high's will reach approx. 12 kHz!

Classic use of 9 midrange driver's!

    Superior vs. Mono-pole speakers!

Designed to provide that right amount of Direct vs. Reflected SPL's!

A local shop ([pretty high end) told me that some customer of theirs has a HT below ground that uses 6 pairs of 901s stacked one on top of the other for the fronts.

The salesman looked kinda sad saying it.

Just because they were new. Still, they got poor reviews. Even "back in the day".

    Phil,

My farther has a pair of 901's same color as below

When i was in middle school he came home with these, he thought there were the best speakers he ever heard in his life! Now he says he got ripped off!

Last time i was over his house i took the grill off and it looked like....

Minus cobb webbs and NO surronds! They are gone because the foam surronds dry rotted away along with the drivers, only thing still intact is the cabinet, stands and e.q. box.

AHH memoreis thx for the laughs guys!

Chu, I knew something was up when you actually started a thread praising a product rather than poking holes in someone's half-baked theories...
