I was talking to this girl I met the other day, when I decided to slip "THE TEST" into the conversation. We all know what "The Test" is, and that it consists of only one question:
What are some of your favorite movies? [IMG]
I don't like to pre-judge, but this girl is really attractive, and while I haven't yet proven my theory into scientific law, I tend to associate pretty girls with bad tastes in movies. [IMG] Sorry.
My window of opportunity came, and I slipped in the question. I was so expecting her list to read something like Pretty Woman, Titanic, Van Wilder, etc. While some of those are good movies, I have found that these are a few of the most common answers often mixed with other bad movies.
Boy, do I like to be proven wrong.
She tells me that some of her favorites are Shine, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Pulp Fiction, Shakespeare in Love, A Clockwork Orange, Amadeus, Sling Blade, and several others I can't remember because I was still in shock when she said "Shine". [IMG]
Her only major deduction came when she told me that Unbreakable sucked, [IMG] but other than that she fared well. I'll give her a solid B on this initial exam. We'll see how she does on the mid-term and the final. [IMG]
Does your SO pass "The Test"? [IMG]

    Cameron,
As you probably know, "Unbreakable" doesn't exactly appeal to everyone's taste. Most people either love it or hate it, without too many people having a middle ground opinion about it. Therefore, I would say she passed the initial test with flying colors.

There's only one question you need to ask someone: Do they like Fight Club? [IMG]

When I read the title, I was thinking you gave her the door test from A Bronx Tale.

I would give her an A for her favorite movies.

I agree with Theo. Ask them if they liked Fight Club. Luckily my wife loved it.

I tried that with a girl I met recently. Her answers: Caddyshack, Truly Madly Deeply, Aliens, Rosemary's Baby and Goodfellas.
    She's a keeper. [IMG]

I know that this thread is tounge-in-cheek(I hope) but seriously movies are a part of life, not the other way around.

Luckily, my girlfriend has never seen Fight Club. Oh, to be ignorant and 139 minutes richer again...I envy her. [IMG][IMG]

    Well,

my ex-girlfriend really fooled me moviewise. She wasn't interested in movies at all. Only the ones that she saw on Hallmark and stations like it. So, imagine my surprise - and later on, absolute horror - when I discover that she actually was in the same theatre as me on the primiere night of Lord Of The Rings. And she loved loved it every bit as much as I. Or so I thought. As of now she is ahead in LOTR-watchings. I gave it to her for her birthday, and by now she is ahead of me with seven viewings of the film. She watched it three times in the cinema, I only catched one showing. And I have 'only' seen the movie 12 times since then. So do the math and consider how much time, she spends in front of the television watching LOTR!

At least it keeps her of the Hallmark Channel.

    Sincerely,

    Michael

My wife gets a D- [IMG]
Here is a list of the DVDs that she has purchased:
    1. Hardball
    2. Riding in Cars with Boys
    3. Baby Geniuses
    4. The Mighty
    5. The Princess Diaries (at least she bought WS)
    6. Not Without My Daughter
    7. Men in Black
    8. Hoosiers
    9. Yours, Mine, and Ours
    10. I Am Sam
So Hoosiers and Men in Black are decent... so I cant give her an F... and she does like Pulp Fiction and she thought that UHF was funny... also she really likes "The Royal Tennenbaums." However, she watches far too many "Lifetime" movies for her to get a good grade [IMG] But I still love her... [IMG]

My real test is if they can sit through an entire viewing of Swingers without throwing a shoe at Vince Vaughn [IMG]
