I recently installed Windows XP on my computer. I like to use the Netscape browser once in awhile. I had no problem opening Netscape from my desktop when my computer had Windows ME. I recently reinstalled Netscape 7.2 on my computer. When I double click on Netscape on my desktop nothing happens! Is Windows XP preventing me from accessing Netscape? I know I can access Netscape through explorer but I would prefer to access Netscape directly. Any ideas?

Just create a shortcut from explorer and put it on your desktop.

Not quite as pretty, but it works.

Brentl, Good idea but netscape opens up using the explorer browser using your shortcut. I want to be able to double click on the Netscape symbol on my desktop and it open up.
That is not happening now. Anybody else have any ideas?

I thought I would try one more time. When I double click on Netscape on my desktop nothing happens! Is Windows XP preventing me from accessing Netscape? I know I can access Netscape through explorer but I would prefer to access Netscape directly. Any ideas?

I must be reading things wrong, if you can open from explorer what's wrong with the "shortcut" thing I mentioned?

I have mine on the taskbar.

My Netscape browser hasn't worked since I downloaded that latest security patch for IE6.0 SP1 last week. Did you download the patch as well?

brentl, there is nothing wrong with your shortcut, but Netscape refuses to open on my computer unless I go through Explorer. Dirk_R, I have all the patches. Netscape has not worked since I reloaded it after installing XP. It worked fine when I had Windows ME on my computer. I am curious why this is happening.

Maybe it will help if you right-click on the shortcut icon, select 'Properties' and list all the values here. Also make sure that the paths listed are correct and exist.

Christian, the paths are correct. I have also gone right into the Netscape executable on my C drive and clicked it directly and it just will not open. Netscape is listed on my computer program list as currently installed but there is no program size listed. All my other programs have a size listed like 139.00 MB for example. So maybe this is the issue....
