I want to get a new TV for my bed room and wanted to spend around $600. I am thinking about one of these two. one is 37 inches and the other is 40. besides the screen size what is the differences between these two and do you think it would be better to spend the extra money for the 40 inch..

Both are LED based LCD displays. The only discernible difference that I can see is the size of the screen.

However, based on your question on what to buy, I would have to ask a question. What is the viewing distance that you will typically be watching this set from. If you are more than 3X the width the display, which that won't be much between those two displays, your eye won't be able to discern 1920X1080 resolution.

So, I guess it really gets down to what your intent is for the display.

Personally, I would look to a variety of other manufacturers in that price range and other stores for comparisons. When it comes to LED LCD displays, there isn't a dramatic difference of brands, in terms of picture quality, in those size ranges or price ranges.

For instance, if you need to stay in this price range, you might consider Element 50" 1080p LCD HDTV from Costco. Granted this is not an apples to apples comparison as the Element is a CCFL backlit display vs. a LED backlit display on the Samsung. However, if your viewing distance is far away, I would go with something I can see the resolution vs something that has a better contrast ratio.

Or, since most bedrooms are dark...
If you live near Alco dept stores, they have a 51" plasma for $600.

There is no way I'd ever put anything but a plasma in a bedroom.
