I can't decide, Denon 2802 or the Onkyo 787?

I'm thinking of upgrading, and I have the option of getting the 787 for a good price, nearly $400 off of the retail. Should I go with a new 787 from last year, or should I just settle for a 2802. They both ave 6.1, but the 787 has THX select and the 2802 has DTSES Discrete. The 787 also was more power. The only thing is that the 2802 has PLII. Or should I just get the 2802 since it has the new stuff, like PLII and DTSES Discrete and just save for an external amp later if I feel the need?

I had this same choice and went with the 2802. DPL2 and DTS ES discrete alone make it the better choice. You wouldn't notice the power difference between the two.

The 2802 was reviewed well by Sound & Vision Mag recently. Really, you should compare the 797 to the 2802. Between the 787 and the 2802, I would go with the 2802.

I went with the 787 because of the component video switching. Don't know whether that is important to you, but I am very happy with my purchase. It's a monster ...
