I'm going out today to get a game for my PS2. Maybe something used but if not, I'll buy new. I've had my PS2 for a while but don't have much software for it and I've not really been keeping track of anything coming out.

What's the hottest game out right now that I should get today?

I don't really want any sports games. Preferably action/adventure, role playing, etc, etc.

    What's it gonna be?

    Scott.

Mark of Kri, was in line with friend's the day I got Res Evil. Brand spankin new, every bit of design and animation is done by some Disney Animation squad. Really fun game, awesome FMV's.

    Animation's "hot" too.

Great PS2 games I can easily recommend (omitting sports):

    Max Payne - action/adventure
Medal of Honor: Frontline - first person shooter
    Half-Life - first person shooter
    Virtua Fighter 4 - fighting
    Metal Gear Solid 2 - action/adventure
    Silent Hill 2 - survival/horror

Plus, there are a number of really cheap ($19.99) PS2 games out there, under the "greatest hits" banner:

    ATV Offroad Fury
    Gran Turismo 3
    Red Faction
    Dark Cloud
    Midnight Club: Street Racer
Twister Metal: Black (which you already have)
    Smuggler's Run
    Resident Evil: Veronica Code

There might be some others too. I've seen ICO (highly recommended) and Devil May Cry for very cheap also. These are all pretty decent games, depending on what you like.

I would recommend ICO (should probably rent it, it's short but amazing).

    Star Wars: Super Bombad Racing
    Maximo

These are the games that get the most play from me.

My new favorite is Sega Sports Tennis. It's a little campy but very addicting and great fun!

GTA3 and GT3 are about the only games that get played on my PS2 at the moment, but I've got a wheel for GT3 - it wasn't that much fun without one. ICO is a wonder and a joy to behold, with the single but major exception of the shadow guys that annoyed me too much - rent first.

MGS2 looks really nice from the little I tried it, but realised about 10 minutes in that I was starting to spoil the end of the first one for myself, so I'm now playing through that under Bleemcast! as I never got around to completing it originally. If you've not played the original either then buy it. Now.

Oh yes - I keep forgetting that Rez is also a PS2 game. Buy this, not anything else. A search for the game on the HTF will find you a pile of testimonials; I adore this game.

I'd vote for ICO and Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance.
    Drakan also has it's merits.

    Your mileage may vary.
