I forgot to do season record on this series so I have to catch up with episode 2 this weekend. Anyhow, that won't happen again.

Yes, they are, of course, on the internet like everything else and they are graphic and very disturbing.

One funny/odd thing that keeps occurring to me as I watch Pine in this is that if they did a remake or made a major motion picture of The Night Stalker, Pine would make a perfect Kolchak.

I don't know he weirdly is reminding me of Darren McGavin.

He's even got the editor boss barking at him about deadlines.

Yes, it has that "Kolchak" dynamic with his boss telling him "No!" and to just report on the item he gave him.

Corinna Hodel and Sepp just give me the creeps. Very interesting episode for night number 2. Was surprised that Jay was so easily lured back to his old habit, I thought he would stay clear to be able to investigate. The last couple of acts had me on the edge of my seat.

Watched the first episode over my Apple TV using the TNT app. Jeez, I'll never do that again. Frequent commercials and they just break in at what I presume are pre-determined times without any consideration for the scene. They are abrupt, almost like the film broke.

Then we watched the second episode off our dvr and I'm not sure what I think of the show. I was hoping it would be more oriented around the Black Dahlia murder mystery then it has been.

The Black Dahlia aspect is definitely coming more into play as we find out what happened with Jay's initial investigation of that, which occurred back in 1956, almost nine years earlier.

One big visual callback to that was the painting in the gallery that Fauna and the ex-wife of Hodel were going through, and then you see Hodel there, and the painting shows a dismembered body, or body separated in segments, which supposedly is what the original murder, dismemberment and placement was modeled after. I forget the name of the painting, but I remember reading it was part of the investigation. I haven't read the books about the case or more than some summaries posted, but I think we'll get more about it in future episodes.

More about The Black Dahlia in tonight's episode and some suspenseful cat and mouse stuff, too.

That opening scene felt like David Lynch channeling Eyes Wide Shut.

We are at the half way point on the series, and I am really curious as to what sort of resolution the limited series reaches. I'm enjoying Chris Pine's flawed protagonist.

Because the time frame the show is set in is the 1960s obviously whatever they cover of the Black Dahlia murder would be in some kind of flashback and would not really involve the two key characters the show is telling the story around. I think this will mainly be about Fauna and Jay in these 6 episodes and what happens to them probably with some interspersed details about who Dr. Hodel is and what a nasty bit of business he is.

Of course that movie was filmed before the The Black Dahlia murder. Also, the film title is intertwined with a major plot point in the film.

Yeah I just thought it was a funny coincidence.
Both those movies have very similar titles to this show.

There were definitely some intense moments in the finale episode, but somehow I felt a bit underwhelmed when it was over. I don't know what I expected exactly, but the show didn't quite deliver whatever it was I wanted in the end.

Glad I watched it. Great period detail. Story was not what I expected and just seemed to meander to its conclusion. Sure hope Fauna had a happy adult life. I doubt this one will be visited again.

By the end of the run, tuning in each week was turning into more of a chore for me than something I actually looked forward to. I just didn’t want to drop a six episode show after seeing four of them, so I finished it anyway. I was underwhelmed by the whole thing.
