Not at my house anytime soon.[IMG]

Read something about this in Popular Science last year.
Supposedly, it orignates from military uses, though not intended for music or HT in it's beginings obviously.
Interesting, but aways off I would think before this "might be refined & cost effective enough" to find it's way into your average house hold HT or Music system.

    Regards
    Geoff

    Guys

It's rather difficult to explain in a paragraph or two, have you tried the HTML link also.

    The first link he posted.

    Edit:
It's now not working for me also, humm thats strange as it worked fine last night.

The links are down for now. I have PDFs that I downloaded, but I can't find a way to attach.

    Here's your synopsis:

PIE in the SKY. The idea of "hypersonic" sound was hatched and developed by Elwood Norris at least 5 years ago and promised this, that, and the other thing. It's really more suited to advertising displays than high quality listening. Last time I looked, many issues still had to be ironed out...especially the reproduction of lower end bass. If you want a quick tutorial, do a google search on "Tartini tones", and it should give you some idea of the basis for this technology. Just don't get your hopes up.

    Todays article from USA today
    USA today

Could someday revolutionize the way we hear sound.
If this technology succeeds in becoming the new speaker technology for surround sound. We probably wont need 5 speakers in a 5.1 system. Integrated HSS can placed in a indiscrete location aiming five channels at five solid objects placed where our speakers are placed, each of these solid objects in turn will act as source of sound creating the surround effect. So no more wiring needed, everything will neatly come in a small box.
