This guy wouldn't be anywhere if it weren't for the internet. Funny thing is I'd rather watch him over 99% of the rest of the contestants (John Stevens better win).
It's a shame that this guy gets more press than legitimate Asian-American singers like Coco Lee (signed to Sony and sang theme to "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon") or Gerry Woo/Harlemm Lee (signed to Motown in the 80s and winner of NBC's "Fame" talent show).
Great to see the nerdy Asian guy stereotype being perpetuated.
Yeah, whatever happened to Harlem Lee??? I thought he got a recording deal from that show. He seemed to have just vanished into thin air.
Clay Aiken (el fako) was not even the winner and yet he has been exposed to the hilt and even today a year later he's still in the news with an album and now a tour with Kelly Clarkson (another el fako).
Peter, don't even get me started on Clay
it's funny because it's *so* horrible ... not because he's asian. it could be a hispanic or african-american doing it -- if they can be as cheesy as this guy then they also deserve the fame.
let the guy have his three minutes. it's not hurting anyone and it sure seems like he's enjoying it. i just hope he doesn't think he really has talent!
I will be amazed if any male contestant makes it to the top 3...
This man has no dignity...
I heard this guy was a pretty nice guy.
George will make it -- at least -- to the Top Three.
Like watching a train wreck, yes? In fact, that's the way I feel most of the time watching these reality shows, whether AMI, For Love Or Money, The Bachelor...
I'll buy it because it goes against everything American Idol represents.
It's obvious American Idol just dragged this guy out to make fun of him. I mean, how did this guy make it past the initial tryouts to get on TV if he was that bad?!?! I hope he gets filthy stinking rich and buys and sells American Idol.
Obviously, they pick the best and worst performers to be on TV.
14 minutes and counting.
His singing is pathetic. Sad that the media and the audience are making this guy a star.
All these personalities that come off of American Idol, talent or no talent, make me wince.
I wish this show would just go away.
I can't take it anymore... he's EVERYWHERE. Why o WHY is this guy famous? Please, someone explain it to me Sure, it was funny the first... 50... or so times I saw it, but "She Bangs" (or William Hung as his mother named him) is really starting to jump my nerves.
And now THIS!
And people wonder why I don't listen to new American music anymore
Im proposing that he have his own TV network...
WillTV- All Hung... All the time...
I say if he's allowed to have a record deal, than "Like a Virgin" guy deserves one too.
"I have a very unique sound..."
"When you said unique, you meant it!"
I'm wondering if some of the negative reactions to this guy are the result of a little jealousy.
Hay he developed a shtick and it worked for him. Certainly he won't last forever but for the vast majority it doesn't so he's no different then the rest. Here is a sobering thought for those who want can make snide remarks of "15 Minutes" etc, that's 15 more minutes then most of you will ever have.
They're laughing AT him, not WITH him.
Let the guy have his fun. He KNOWS he's having his 15 minutes based on how horrid (yet earnest) his performance was. He's going along with the joke, and that's why I like him. And I think most people are laughing WITH him rather than AT him precisely for those reasons.
So he'll make a novelty album, maybe a bit of money, and then go back to his studies. Sounds like fun, let him be
Of course, if he becomes a full-on media whore and starts believing his own press, then have at him. But for now, he's still ok in my book.
