What do in the area of software for my HTPC?

Also, to get the various audio decodings associated with DVD movies,ie., DTS, dobly etc., do i need a special card, or, can i have it decoded by a DTS reciever strait from the dvd-rom?

    Thanks,

    Tim knapp

You need a version of the software that will decode the formats, or a card with a DD/DTS processor built in. You can send a bitstream out to your reciever through digital coax also

SPDIF port on your sound card. All you need is a 1/8" to RCA adapter from Radio Shack and you're gold. You do usually have to set your playback software to use the digital out.
