I would like to build a HTPC. Unfortunately the last piece I will be able to buy is the projector. However, I would still like to build one and would like to know if it's at all possible to watch movies and TV using my current direct view tv?

    Thanks

it sure is. you just need either (1) a video card with TV-output (ATI Radeon recommended) or (2) a scan converter, which takes the VGA output of your video card and converts it to 480i. (1) is the less expensive and generally better option. If you get a model with the "dual head" option, then you can run the TV-output at a different resolution than your main monitor.
