I am trying to use the learn function on my remote to program my MX500 to control my remote controlled ceiling fan. The problem is that the remote uses RF instead of IR?? Does the MX500 support RF learning even limited functionality (all I need is 5 buttons. Is there a way to add on support for it even?

The MX-600 is basically the same model as the MX-500, but the 600 supports RF. If you just purchased the remote, you may want to see if you can exchange it for the MX-600 if this function is important to you.

But, the Mx-600 only uses RF to communicate with it's base station, it won't control his ceiling fan, they're undoubtedly different RF frequencies. Even if the frequencies were the same (unlikely) no universal remote is capable of learning RF commands.
