Looking forward to your thoughts - missed it in theaters but if you love the 3D I might do a blind buy.
The 3D was very good Josh, it wasn’t the best film for us and would of benefitted from a few less songs and a more compact runtime. Others seem to love the story, I think you would like it.

I will agree that there was very little need or demand for this film, but we found it an enjoyable summer time waster. The British 3Der should be in my US mailbox by now.

Of the Disney remakes, "Aladdin" is above average.

Not better than - or as good as - the 1992 film, but superior to stuff like "Dumbo" and "Lion King" and "BatB".

Will Smith makes the new "Aladdin" enjoyable for me. I can do without the rest of it...

I do agree about “Dumbo” -_--_--_--_--_--_--_- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
I actually really fell asleep when watching it at home and had to “rewind”.

Strange, we enjoyed Dumbo.

Yeah, it is strange that you enjoyed it!

I'll give "Dumbo" credit for its willingness to differ from the source, though that's probably more due to the brevity of the 1941 movie than anything else. It's essentially plot-free and barely an hour long, so they needed to make massive changes to expand it to feature-length expectations now.

But it's not interesting otherwise. It's about everybody but Dumbo too much of the time!

Found this interesting listing at Amazon Germany for The Final Countdown (1980) in 3D. It's marked as Region B locked, but does appear to include an English audio option. I wasn't aware anyone had converted this title. Only 5 Euros.

Based on some reviews I found, it sounds like the 3D isn't very good (probably like some of the other conversions from the 80's).

There are a decent number of German conversions that were done with automated equipment equivalent to the 2D-to-3D setting built into your TV. And they look just as poor. Worse than Fox’s I Robot and Jumper releases.

Never seen it but might get around to it one day.

I was able to see it (one of many times with all my grandkids) run at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood. That was when they had the characters flying through the air attached with cables to the ceiling...quite awesome for the grandkids and myself, especially sitting in the balcony seats...and enjoying the "original" opening original song!

Tomorrow I'll be watching the 3D version...can't wait! :3dglasses:
