Great review Dave! You write in an easy-to-read, fun tone and cover most everything I want to know when I consider a purchase. Most of the Disney discs, such as the animated classics, I'll end up buying no matter what you say here, but it's always nice to have a good idea of what I'm going to get for the $14-$20 I'm going to shell out, and if Disney really did do the classics justice with their DVD release.

I'm a Disney nut, so it will be very nice to read your reviews. The Lizzie TV show does not impress me so I gave the movie a skip (in favor of X2) and will likely give the disc a skip too.

I look forward to your reviews of Sleeping Beauty (9/9) and The Lion King (10/7)! The HTF membership is very lucky to have you reviewing discs for us.

Nice review David. :) I took my 2 daughters to see this in May and I knew after the experience they would request the dvd when it came out. :D

I like your review, DaVID.
Will there be one or two screenshots in the future review? It's not easy to read on a long but nice article without some attractive visuals.:)

no need to explain yourself. You're more than permitted to like this movie and to want the DVD! Even though I wouldn't have sought out the film, after having watched it I can understand how it would appeal to some folks. Since you've seen the movie and enjoyed it, I can assure you that the DVD is worthy of your purchase.
When I went to see X2, it was sold out and I've already seen all the movies playing on other screens so I figured that the worst thing that could happen would be that I end up hating the movie.

But boy did it feel weird to be in a theater full of shallow teen girls...

Again, it all depends on what else is coming out that day...

Great first review David, I hope you take the time to review Holes which an immensely superior film. Unlike Lizzie, Holes is a story that is made to be enjoyed by all audiences (like classic Disney live action of yesteryear), but like Lizzie, it was unfortunately marketed only to a teen audience.

Sleeping Beauty on 9/9! I completely forgot! I look forward to that review as well.

Good review, I think you spelled Alex Borstein's name wrong, though. I've actually seen a lot more of the Lizzie McGuire TV show than I should probably admit as a 22 year old guy, but it's actually way better than a sitcom on the Disney Channel has any right to be. Lizzie McGuire and Even Stevens are actually both really good (along with Kim Possible). They have really talented young casts, are funny, sweet, and like you said, cute. It would have been easy to dismiss the movie as trite, preteen, pop-star garbage, but you gave it a fair shake and that's refreshing in the age or internet criticism (of course, this excludes the HTF as a rule ;) )

Hey Adam,

if Disney sends it to me I'll review it. Hopefully since Ron has wisely spread the task of reviewing out accross several folks, we'll be able to review more of the product we receive than we would if just one individual had to make a full-time task of sorting through all the pre-release discs and deciding which ones to select.

BTW, regarding screen shots. I *really* want to provide them. Right now I'm bummed bcs my PC at home and work do *not* have a DVD drive. So for the moment I'll be taking advantage of a co-worker who's got a DVD drive at home on their personal PC. Another issue is hosting the pics...and Adam (another reviewer for Fox studios) is going to see if his web account has room to host the traffic. If it does...he'll let me share some web space to upload them.

If any of you have good suggestions on how to remedy either of these two issues (my lack of DVD drive and web hosting) please suggest. Anyone got an older PC they're getting rid of with a DVD drive who would like to "donate" it to the common HTF good :D :D ?? Web hosting needs to have ample file space *and* allowable-download-traffic. Just think how many "hits" those images will get when Lion King comes out!

dave :)

I also enjoyed this movie.
It sounded good, but a bit of dialnorm was distracting.
Looks good too.

the animation snippets were different.

more for young girls than adults. :emoji_thumbsup:

Chris, I was surprised to see that you mentioned the animation in the movie. Before the series started on TV, that is what Dsiney was bragging about what would make this series special. She really gets carried away in those, as you get to see and hear what she is really feeling. Maybe they just didn't do very many of them in the movie to make a difference.
