I was delighted to find all three of the movies and the documentary in one box, but all I have watched are the documentaries. I started to watch Raiders and was extremely disappointed in the unsharp video. I guess the film must have been in terrible shape, but it is still very disappointing. I expected better. I checked the other two, and the video of Doom and Crusade is lightyears ahead of Raiders.

In all honesty, I too was somewhat disppointed with the video quality of Raiders. However, I do think it looks good for it's age, etc. and "does the job" so to speak. However, when watching Temple of Doom - it only being three years older - I don't know why Raiders couldn't have looked at least almost like this. I'm sure there is a reason. (For the record, I felt this way about Back to the Future too.) I'm sure just as much effort - if not more - went into Raiders. However, according to Lowry, Raiders was in good shape besides the scratch he talked about. I guess it's just something in the original source..maybe the type of film used to prevent it looking excellent.

I have to say, I am more impressed with restorations of Superman, Jaws, Alien (which I hear the new version looks incredible) and Halloween. However, I do realize it's hard to compare because of each film's source material.

I watched Raiders today on my 123 inch screen and was very impressed with the video quality, especially considering the age of the movie.

The same can be said for the sound.

(I still think the movie itself is overrated though) :)
