This movie is definitely funny. I was watching it at 4 AM this morning & was laughing out loud at many scenes. Not many movies can actually do that to me.
It is definitely pretty raunchy, full of naughty words & nudity (all the makings of a :emoji_thumbsup: :emoji_thumbsup: movie :D)

(edit: When I say raunchy it truly is. It may appear to be a 'lighthearted comedy' but it's really not, it deserves the "R" )

Picked this up last night; saw it twice in theaters. There aren't that many comedies that make it into my collection and what I appreciated about it is the underlying heart.

Interesting bit about the R-Rated edition.

I read a review at DVDTown said the video quality has some issues, some of which I can confirm, mainly the "shimmering." I only made it about halfway through the movie last night but the scene where Andy gets the big box o' porn was the most noticeable. Other than that the picture looks good - generally sharp and detailed with good colors. The ringing seems like a big misstep so that might knock down the score for a lot of people. DVDTown mentions haloes, but I didn't see any (at least on par with certain notorious culprits of this).

I laughed quite a bit when I saw this in the theaters, and I was a big fan of Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared, so I had to add this one to the collection.

Believe it or not but I was able to get the wide-screen unrated edition at Walmart & they even price matched Circuit City's $13.99 price for me. It was a decent DVD for a really great movie but I would of preferred it had the theatrical trailer & a famous quotes feature like they had for the American Pie movies but I noticed that Universal does not do both of these features anymore in their newest DVD's.

I did not receive the final version. We'll see what gift cards Santa brings me, and I will pick something up then.

(By the way, can someone confirm if this is a single layered or dual-layered disc, and possibly provide file sizes of the vobs?)

Thanks!

Steve, Widescreen Unrated copy here, purchased from Circuit City on day one.

Disc is dual-layered, total size is 7.79 GB. Don't know what you want specifically in regards to the VOB files. I've got 6 VOB files here that are VTS_01_1, VTS_01_2, etc. The first 5 files are 0.99 GB, last one is 791 MB, and all are dated October 18, 2005.

If you need anything more specific, let me know and I'll do my best to help.

Picture quality is not that great, in my opinion. There's a lot of edge enhancement. The picture quality should've been better, especially for such a new film. I think to fit everything on one disc they had to sacrifice the picture quality. Too bad this wasn't a two-disc release.

Ok, my question is, have they "modified" the jokes of the theatrical version like Anchorman or have they simply inserted additional scenes?

Any body find a list of the changes?

Very funny film.

Weird choice at the end with the Aquarius musical number. This part was not so funny.

As far as picture quality goes, even theatrically, it didn't look that great. It had a very soft look to it. I watched parts of the DVD and I didn't have any complaints as to the transfer.

Actually, this was one of my favorite parts of the movie. A weird random music number should be at the end of every movie.

Well I got this for Christmas and finally got to see the unrated cut. I had seen this movie twice in the theater prior to owning the DVD so it was easy to pinpoint what was added. The added scenes with Mooj were funny as hell, but I found a lot of the extra footage to be simply extended conversations, which personally I found threw off the balance of the film somewhat. The good thing about the theatrical version is that it didn't drag on. It was just the right length with just the right balance. As much as I love this movie, I found the extended cut to be just a bit TOO long. Just my $0.02.

not really prepared for just how bad the PQ is on this disc. from the very first scene, it looks like this thing was dug up from 97/98. clearly it's been over processed and has a nasty digital edge to it. just terrible. a shame universal couldn't even do a semi-professional job with it.

it's this kind of **** that makes piracy quite an appealing option. i don't like getting screwed like this. i BUY the dvd and in return i don't want a dvd that looks like it was mastered by an idiot !

and if so much content had to be added (at the sacrifice of PQ, don't be cheap, add another disc). and no, NOT DVD18.

interesting to note how some dvd review sites are praising this disc for it's PQ. avforums being i one i just have to mention - "it has brilliant detail", "very little to fault with this picture" - give me a break !!!!!!
