We just watched this tonight after getting it from Amazon yesterday and I was curious about the animated section at the beginning of the movie. Apparently, that is 1:85:1 while the rest of the movie is 2:35:1, but the1:85:1 part was not anamorphic. Once it went live action it was fine, but the only way I could get the animated section to stretch was by setting my tv (Pioneer 5061) to wide, which I usually hate because it almost always distorts the picture.

I am just wondering why this was the case and if anyone knows or do I just have a setting off somewhere?

is the Goofy cartoon on this disc? I'm planning on buying the movie anyway, but I'd love to have the Goofy short.

Doug: The Goofy short never made it to Enchanted's theatrical run. At the last minute Disney switched things up and paired the Goofy short with National Treasure 2. Some dumb idea about wanting to give a different part of the Disney audience a look at classic Disney animation. :rolleyes

I actually only went to see enchanted in the theaters to see the Goofy short...only to find out it wasn't there...and to end up falling in love with Enchanted. So, not a complete loss for me! :D

So, while you would think the Goofy short would be attached to the upcoming release of NT2...it's not. In fact, it is nowhere to be found...unless it is a hidden easter egg that is not being advertised in the NT2 releases.

I'll probably pick this one up blind for the family. Hope I'm not being set up for disappointment. ;) :D

Thanks for the review!

Yeah I did some looking too. Because all of the solo Goofy cartoons are out in the Disney Treasures sets, its unlikely that this will be released that way. I guess we can only hope that it will end up on video somewhere.

Thanks Mike.

I figured it was done intentionally since when the live action started it displayed normally, but it's nice to see it confirmed.

I got to watch this on blu-ray last night and what a treat. I was laughing so hard at the "sound of music" shot that I was nearly crying! There is even a King Kong reference.

The one bummer is that my BD-P1000 doesn't have the horse power to be able to do the D-files. If you click the button on the correct answer, by the time the player reacts its too late. Unfortunately I'll have to limp along with my snail of a player until someone puts out a 2.0 standalone.

That explains it! I was wondering why my BD-10 was lagging on the D-files segment. I never thought of that. D'oh! It also made it difficult to select some of the answers...almost like it would just skip over certain ones (unfortunately the "right" answers at times!).

This is quickly becomming one of my top favorites, I just watched it for the 3rd time, in the last five days. Amy should have been given an Oscar!

I have yet to check this D-files thing.

Ron: Don't you want to compare her talent to that of Julie Andrews?! She was THAT good in this film. And when you watch the outtakes/bloopers and see her come out of character...it is amazing to think what it took for her to keep that persona so constant through all the shooting.

Yeah, Amy Adams is terrific in the role (as she was in her Oscar-nominated performance in Junebug a few years back).

My wife teased me mercilessly twice, once for simply renting Enchanted in the first place and then again because I liked it so much!

Mike, from what I've seen so far from Amy I may just have to say she's better then Julie because yes, she's that good. I tried accessing the D-files on my BD-P1000 and it's too slow so it'll have to wait until I fire up the theater and use the PS3.

What I am really looking forward to is seeing her in "Night at the Museum 2: Escape from the Smithsonian". I just hope she gets a lot of screen time.

This one looks to be pushing me over the edge to buying a PS3, but if I do that I'll either have to buy a new receiver or jobber a switcher into my more-and-more-archaic-all-the-time system.

Thanks for the review Kevin. This is one of my favorite discs. Excellent quality picture and sound (I would have given this a 5 picture and especially a 5 for sound). It's good to have the Disney magic back. I am going on my 4th viewing. I think Alan Menkin and Steven Schwartz are brilliant songwriters and the production values for this movie are excellent. I won't, though, go as far as saying that Amy is a better actress than Julie Andrews. Amy is brilliant in this role but there will never be another Julie.

What a shame that "So Close" lost the Academy Award for best song. It's also a shame that the Academy can't see fit to nominate excellent films like this for more important Oscars.

And if you look back, Robert...neither did I. All I said to Ron was that you can make a comparison between the two. Which is, in itself, a huge tip of the hat to Amy Adams. For anyone to even come close to Julie Andrews is quite an accomplishment.

I hope Adams does more movie musicals.

I agree about your high marks for the SQ.

Nice. I'm 5 viewings down in less then two weeks, going to watch it again this weekend as well. Such a fantastic film, easily my top favorite for a live action Disney film. Bought the soundtrack as well.
