Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't you want something like this to be on disc in 1080i60 rather than destroying frames to reduce it to 1080p24?

You may be correct. When this title was announced there were some complaints/questions aired about it being in 1080i. This is the first 1080i BD which I have viewed.
