What speakers are best for 4m x 5m single story Home Theatre among:


(a) In-wall / Ceiling mounted

(b) bookshelf speakers

or

(c) Floor stand

Let me preface this by saying these comments are all generalizations. There will be exceptions.


In-wall are better than in-ceiling. In-ceiling are pointing down. Unless you are under the speaker, then you are losing out by being off-axis. The "swivel tweeter" and other things help but not 100%.


In-wall speakers are a compromise but they are not always bad. It limits you if you want to upgrade or re-arrange the room. Sometimes wall studs don't allow optimum placement.


Towers vs. bookshelfs is a toss-up. It depends on your goals. Sometimes towers use the exact same drivers and crossover. Choose the ones that sound the best.

If you need a second opinion I Ditto what Robert J says. Once you get into free standing speakers pick the ones that sound best to your ears and meet your installation goals and budget.

Hi HTF members -- selecting speakers for your home isnt a quick process. Alot of thought into your HT project has to go... budget, "cosmetics", power/handling needs, and a few other concerns.
