hi ,I'm new here and love reading all the forums and have learned so much!ok,here's my ?,I have an older rotel rsp1066 preamp,about 10 yrs or more ,and a rotel rmb 5 ch amp ,and also a denon 2808ci ht reciever,shoild I hook up the denon with the rmb1075 or the rsp 1066 prepro?,the denon has hdmi in and out and is 7 channels ,so I would lose those options and more ,but would the rotel prepro sound better,cleaner??and I have the onkyo 7030 cd player,thanks for any help.

Depends on what your speakers are as well. Are they totally transparent or not?

If you have some Polk Monitor/Klipsch Synergy/Infinity Primus, you very likely can't tell a difference.

If you have Polk LSi/klipsch Reference/Revel Concerto, you very likely can tell a huge difference.

The main "disadvantage" of AVR as pre-pro is they rarely reach the same output voltage of a prepro(meaning they top out at 90%...leaving power behind).

thanks,I have a pair of paradigm studio 60 v2's,I would have to get a 2 channel amp to power the 2 center backs if I use the 1066 or just live with the 5.1 correct?
