Try the Onkyo HT-S650 at Circuit City for $499. The Kenwood HTIBs (505 and 544) are also thought of as good for HTIBs. Listen to them and make a choice. I auditioned a lot of HTIBs at $900 and below, including sony, bose, kenwood, and yamaha. The 650 was the best for me. The sub at 150 watts is very good for a low end system. To beat the others to the punch, conventional wisdom is that you can do better than an HTIB in the long run by buying separates a little at a time. Start with a good receiver and some fronts. Then go to surrounds and center and wind up with the sub. They are probably right, but I am very happy with my budget HTIB.
