I'll be using my next DVD player w/ a 16x9 widescreen TV that does not accept progressive scan, so I am wondering how these players look in interlaced mode. . .

Also, where can I get some info on modding it to region free, or at least buy a region free version?

    Try here
I have the JVC-XVS75GD Progressive Scan DVD, I can't really tell the difference between the i or the p mode. Maybe it's my Sony RPTV that automatically upgrades the signal to progressive using the DRC circuitry.

I have the XVS60 but only use it in progressive mode. I have read that the JVCs get the interlaced from the progressive and this is backwards from all other players. My understanding is that interlaced output is not their strongpoint due to this..
