I was watching an Episode of Howard Stern the other night and I noticed that Jackie(The Joke Man) wasn’t there. What happened to him?
    Thank you for your help.

he quit. then he wanted his job back, but Howard said no. he had a large portion of his show the other day to tell the story. jackie has since done next to nothing and finally realized what an idiot he was for quitting. but howard went on and hired other people, so there is nothing for jackie to come back to, he has been replaced...
at least, that's Howard's story [IMG] I'm sure the truth is probably not what you hear on the radio!

I also heard that before Jackie quit, he was in contract negotioations with Howard. Basically, he wanted about $1 million per season to do his schtick. Howard said no, so Jackie quit. That was right off of one of his E! shows.

Big Howard fan here. I listen to him every morning.
It is true. Jackie wanted more money (as usual) but Infinity Broadcasting said no. It wasn't Howard the one that said no. It is not his decision to make.
Anyway, to make a long story short, Jackie left the show.
He had done this in the past and was able to come back. But not this time.
Howard made a good move here. Instead of hiring one person, he has different comedians coming in every week to do what Jackie used to do. People like Ron Zimmerman, Artie Lang and this very funny imitator Craig Gass.
IMO, this was a good move for the show because it now seems more dynamic and fresh.

Thank you all for clearing that up. It’s a shame to see Jackie leave the show especially since he’s been with Howard for so long. I hope they can make amends but as Andres said, his absence gives the show a fresh look.

I actually miss Jackie. I miss stories about his 5+ houses, his crazy laugh, making fun of his wife's music career....oh well. I've been a fan for 10 years and it's interesting to listen to tapes of older recorded shows from awhile ago. Howard just seems mad now, compared to when he used to laugh a lot more years ago.

The laugh...I miss Jackie's laugh a lot. It just makes you laugh out loud. Funny as hell.
And it was histerical when Fred and Howard used to talk like Jackie and make fun of him.
    The good old days.

While I do miss them making fun of Jackie, I definitely think it's good he's gone. I think he really cheapened the show with all his plugs and whatnot. He seemed to ONLY care about the money, not being part of a great radio show. I'm so glad they called his bluff and didn't let him come back. What an idiot.

I even miss when a caller would add in an F-Jackie.
