I just got Rush - Chronicles , and it has PCM and DD 2.0 Stereo. I was just wondering how you would listen to this? In PCM through true stereo or DD 2.0 through stereo or DD2.0 through the receivers decoder? (Dolby ProLogic)? What is the difference between the two?
Thanks
Steve

Hmmm, I would be interested to know what the best way is supposed to be as well. My guess is that it would be best to use PCM. With my Denon I could use 5-channel stereo.
Try both and let us know what you think.

I believe PCM would be an uncompressed stereo signal, and DD would be compressed. I believe for the truest, least processed sound you would want to use PCM :)

Provided the movie was recorded in Dolby Prologic, Why not use PCM with the Dolby Prologic decoder? That way you get uncompressed audio and the surround effects.
If you are listening in pure stereo, I'd certainly go with the PCM track again because it's not compressed.

These are music videos, so the mix is (most likely) going to be straight stereo.
PCM is uncompressed stereo, the same as an audio CD. The Dolby 2.0 track will probably be the same track encoded into two-channel Dolby Digital. It probably wont sound as good.
Go for the PCM track and listen in Stereo mode.
You could put the receiver into ProLogic mode but you might get odd effects. DPL never does much for normal music unless it's specifically encoded in Dolby Surround.
