Rory, it's interesting that you bring that up, except I don't understand the technical basis for the differences you suggest. The excursion capability of a driver is not necessarily correlated to its distortion at low displacements (example: Tumult). Also, passive radiators only operate around and below the tuning frequency. It doesn't matter if the mass is in the PR or the air loaded by the PR, the transient response is no different because the PR cone structure itself isn't the cause of the distortion. Right?
I would really appreciate a good explanation for slot loading the PR, since I don't understand its function besides an acoustic lowpass.
