After trying to search for this under the term "linking" and not finding any answer, I ask here.

How do you replace an Internet address link with a simple word like "here", which I see used all the time in posts? Do you, perhaps, just write over the address and the link will still be effective? I have been afraid to try doing that for fear of breaking the link. It would be good not to have whole lines taken up by URLs.

If there are instructions for this I don't know where to find them.

    Thanks.

    Rex,
Before the link type [url followed by the equal sign =

    After the link add ]

Then type in any word like "here"

After you type "here" then type [/url then add the final bracket]

At that time, your link will be shorten to "here".

Like the following except substitute the parenthesis with brackets:
    (url=link)here(/url)

    rex -
you can also use the "http://" button at the top of the reply screen. it's by all those other formatting buttons. i use that one all the time.
the first time you click it, you add the text you want...like "click here". the second box asks you to enter the actual URL.
