I get the general consensus that KLH speakers are frowned upon, but I got them for cheap and my goals/budget right now allow for them.

They are 4 way and rated 300rms.

My entire system includes a 5.1 receiver, infiniti wall speakers and a powered sub, but I want to hook these floor speakers up as well for when I want them. Do I just need a 2 channel amp with around 300 rms per channel? That seems pretty beefy to me. Any input appreciated.

The watt ratings on speakers are mostly worthless. The two factors you need to consider are the sensitivity of the speakers (rated in dB at 1 watt) and how loud you want to play them. The 300 watt rating basically just tells you they should handle a decent amount of power, but not that you need 300 watts.

KLH speakers are typically pretty sensitive, so you probably don't need all that much power.

Provide those two things and someone will give suggestions.

those are the speakers.
says 92db sensitivity

pretty loud would be nice, right now they are hooked up to a 5x100 watt receiver so 100w a piece.

With the other speakers shut off the KLH's do not sound to impressive. I want to make the receiver power surround speakers and sub and a separate dual channel amp for the KLH's.

This doesn't really make any sense. You say you have these speakers because they are what you can afford, then want to spend more on another amp to power them because they "do not sound too impressive." An amp won't make much difference. If they sound unimpressive now, they will sound just as unimpressive with an external amp. Plus, does your receiver have pre-outs for the front? If not, you can't use another amp anyway.

A better amp is to make good speakers sound a little better. It won't make bad speakers sound good.

Every dollar spent on an amp gets you about one-tenth to one-hundreth of what a dollar spent on speakers will get you.

Meaning, put your money in speakers first. They really are the weak link in the chain, in a way: it is tough to make good speakers, easy to make a good amp.

I have to agree with John. No insult to you, but did you ever hear the expression "You can't polish a turd"
