Windows 2000 has it's own battery meter that can be disabled from showing up in the systray when the AC adaptor is plugged in - but I don't see any way of also disabling it when it's running off of the battery.

I prefer to use IBM's "Battery Maximiser" meter, and hate the idea of having 2 battery meters showing up in the systray since it's overkill.

Any way to disable the windows battery meter in all scenarios?

Right-click your desktop, choose Properties, select Screen Saver, click Power, then Advanced Tab. Clear the "Always show icon in taskbar" box.

[Edit - just saw you said when it's not plugged in... not sure if this will work or not]
