I have noted that several subwoofer amplifiers have a boost at around 30Hz, is there a way to override it if one doesn't have access to the schematics?

Manuel,

If there is no dial whatsoever on the sub, it may be a hard job. The best chance would be a service centre of the manufacturer.

Do not forget that it may be in the driver+box design, in which case it is difficult, if not impossible, to influence.

The plate amps from Parts Express come with instructions for customizing or disabling the boost. The procedure involves unsoldering a couple of resistors and replacing them with resistors of other values. I just did this for my amp, and now things sound *much* better.
