I'm considering buying a front projector and building my own screen. I'll probably upgrade to a professional screen later, but for now I want to save some money and put it toward a nicer projector. Any suggestions for building a decent screen? I've read about a few different ways of building a screen(blackout cloth, Goo, etc.), but it seems to me one of the simplist ways of building a screen would be to cut a sheet of 1/2 inch MDF to size, paint it white or light gray, and attach a matte black border made out of molding. It would be smooth, flat, and it would never wrinkle. It's also cheap. The only downside I can think of is that it would be pretty heavy, but I figure I can screw it into the studs in my home theater and it won't go anywhere. Am I on the right track here?
