How to become a Best Buy Preferred Customer

    I didn't know this "Preferred Customer" status existed until I heard about it in this forum. Like many in the thread below, I wondered how you become a "Preferred Customer", as I spend my fair share in their local store.

    So I just emailed them, and here is their response. Apparently there are no guarantees of becoming a "Preferred Customer". Thought I'd pass it along to help answer some of your questions:

Customers with established customer histories and those with Best Buy credit cards are chosen to receive preferred customer coupons. To help you become eligible to receive future Preferred Customer Coupons, please reply to this email with your name, current address, and the Best Buy location at which you normally shop. If your name is chosen as part of our sampling, you may begin receiving coupons within the next two promotional periods.

    Looks like I made it. I just replied to the above email this morning. All I did was email and ask. Perhaps this will work for you all. I just rec'd the following response from Best Buy:

    "Jay,

    Thank you for your most recent email.

    I have forwarded your information to the proper personnel for processing. Please allow two or three mailings for your name to be added to the list.

    Jay, don't get excited yet.

    Both the initial response and the follow-up look very familiar! [​IMG]

    Mike Frezon didn't get coupons in a couple of mailing after that...he got them after 9 months of waiting combined with lots more persistant bugging.

    You're not home free yet. Don't count your coupons before they arrive! :wink:

    I do not have a BB credit card. I have been getting the Preferred Customer coupons without fail for several years now. That is, until last month's PC weekend, when I didn't get the coupons. [​IMG]

    However, yesterday I did get the coupons for the upcoming PC weekend. [​IMG]

    At any rate - I have no idea how I got on the list in the first place. I just hope they keep sending them to me!

    I also get them and I hardly ever shop at BB.

    I bought tons of DVDs from best buy, and was never on the list. Then, I beat the addiction, and started buying a few DVDs/Cds per month...after a few months went by, I started getting the preferred customer coupons in the mail. Like some of the previous posters, I do not have a BB credit card either.

    Well for the upcoming weekend, my wife got the coupons but so far I haven't. The last few PC weekends we both got them. Not too big a deal this time though. Not much we're in the market for and finances have gotten a little tight.

    I'd bought a ton of DVDs, CDs, accessories, and smaller items there on my BB card, no mention of ever becoming a BB PC.

    I bought a computer there, no mention of ever becoming a BB PC.

    I bought a TV there, within 2 weeks I was getting BB PC crap in the mail.

    I just got BB PC coupons for the first time. The only way I can think that my name got on their list is the online order I placed with them back in December. I think I'll use one of my 10% coupons on that Yamaha reciever I've had my eye on. [​IMG] [​IMG]

    I got my February 14-17 Preferred Customer coupons in the mail yesterday, second month in a row. I also don't have a Best Buy credit card.

    If I bought a hard drive this past Sunday, would they let me use the 10% coupon to ask for a refund on the 10% portion? $15 is $15 (on a $150 item). I ask because technically I could return the hard drive for a refund, and then ask to re-purchase the hard drive (still on sale this week) with the 10% coupon.

    I've had this discussion time and time again, the only thing that they could possibly get you on is the fact the HD was bought at a Sale price.

    Well I just called today to the Best Buy.com phone number and ask about the preferred customer list, was told representative would transfer me to CUSTOMER RELATIONS,upon talking to new representative was told that the coupons are given by applying for a credit card and spending money on the card-that is what I was told, I told rep I have a card and spend alot of money with it and he told me I was to be added to the list,asked for my mailing address and that was it
