At Crutchfield already: Harman Kardon HK 3475
And it's got a phono input! COOL. With 110 watts of H/K power you can operate just about any speaker system around.
And another one (75 watts per channel): Harman Kardon HK 3375
I still like most surround music better than the 2-channel variety, but stereo is still a totally listenable format. And a heck of a lot cheaper for a high-quality rig. I still daydream about a room dedicated to a simple, stereo-only system, with a nice turntable and decent dvd-audio player; room acoustical treatments; a comfortable "listening" chair w/a low headrest (can't interfere with the ears!) and matching ottoman; neat band posters & memorbilia everywhere; and a little fridge for the bubbly stuff.
HT is fun, but sometimes simple is better.
