Yeah if you want to know how I've built about 4 pairs speakers and 3 subs. I used a nail gun and carpenters wood glue. (With a rubber mallet handy)
For the tempests I used liquid nails for gluing the brace because I had to use a shim to make it fit snugly. You can call it bad craftsmanship but it all turned out well in the end as the liquid nails expanded a little to fill the gap. Carpenters wood glue (yellow glue) shrinks like elmer's glue when it dries.
John has good advice with the screws. Leave 2 inches on each side of the edge to prevent splitting the MDF and always pre-drill.
I also like to take an extra measure by cutting approx 1" off the sheets before I make a main cut. This leaves four freshly cut edges to the panels and may help prevent warping.
